Day 16: Salceda to Monte Do Gozo

Woke up already tired. Woof.

We walked up to the same restaurant that we ate supper at. The owner of course recognized us and put art in our coffees. We ordered some eggs and bacon to start the day. The owner also gave us a restaurant recommendation and gave us a note to give to the owner.... we'll see how that goes.

Most of the day we spent walking with Jack. It was a nice walk and we made it over half way before stopping for a cold beer and water... we should've had food too, but skipped.

After our break the day quickly got very hot, very sunny and the trail turned to pavement without much shade. Mom and I are not made for sun. We're made for shoveling snow, AC, and shady lawn chairs. The day turned tough quickly with multiple times being told we were "almost there" only to seem to still be hours away.

We turned on "Francois mode" which is tiny steps at a turtles pace....

Until our break my prayer of today was of praise and thanksgiving. I was soaking in every single second of the beautiful experience. Looking at every leaf and rock and enjoying the humming of Jack and the sound of moms walking sticks hitting the ground. Just following yellow arrows all day is a beautiful life.

The intense afternoon transformed my prayer to one of offering all the intentions that were shared with me for this trip. It was brutal and beautiful. We even got our first glimps of the cathedral from the hilltop.

It felt like an actual miracle when we arrived in our room for the night. I laid in bed for a while before I even made it into a nice cool shower. Now we are drinking sparkling waters and waiting for the kitchen to open.

Maybe I'll have more to add later... maybe not, I'm so tired.

I'm eagerly awaiting our small trip of just 4 km tomorrow morning to the Cathedral of St. James and all the emotions that come with it.
