Day 5: Barcelona to Rome

Currently typing this on my phone in bed. We went to bars last night and went to bed around 4:30. Probably after a lot of people in the states even went to bed. Yesterday was another great day!

We woke up and went to the sea. Brooke and I wore sandals for the first time on the trip and dipped our feet in the water. We also ate an incredible brunch. Our waiter was soooo friendly and gave us some free cookies for the road.

Yesterday we also flew to our 3rd city, Rome! Crazy to think how fast this trip is flying by. We planned on meeting our friend Joe Kenny around 8:30pm. From the airport we took the train to near our Airbnb. Our Airbnb was very close to St. Mary Major so we went and checked that out and ate a piece of street pizza. Both incredible and beautiful in their own way.

After eating and checking out the Colosseum, we met Joe at our Airbnb and took the metro to the Trevi Fountain and pantheon. I had forgotten how huge everything was from my trip as a teen. From their we found some supper of pasta and bruschetta and a liter of house wine. Yesterday was the first time we went out! We found a cute cocktail bar then moved to a college style pub. We made some friends and stayed out wayyy too late. No regrets here though. The evening was made even greater because I left behind my phone, ID and money behind. I loved the freedom and lack of nerves of losing something or getting it stolen. No phone means no photos of the night! Everyone else will have some.

I'll be writing again this evening, so talk to you later!

I’m helping your mom train for the Camino. We got in a couple long hikes and practiced some steep hills. We had a great day today in Kansas City seeing Hamilton and eating authentic KC BBQ. Sending love from Kansas. Enjoying your posts!
