Day 6: Rome

Wow I'm so tired. But worth it.

Yesterday morning we slept in hard because we went to bed so late the night prior. At 1:30 we finally got everyone out the door and ate lunch. We maybe should've read the reviews before we chose and then we would've realized we were about to eat "the worst pizza in Rome." The reviews were right... but we were all in good spirits and headed to our colosseum tour. Sometime during lunch Brooke realized she wasn't feeling very well so she went back to nap. The boys and I all completed the tour of the colosseum and it was great!

Then we wandered around to find a drink. After a cocktail Brooke filled us in that she probably wouldn't be joining. So what was supposed to be 1 cocktail before our next move turned into rounds of cocktails and pizzas! The waiter was both disappointed and entertained by how the boys could drink the Italians under the table.

Once we had enough of the cocktails we moved back to the Trinity College Pub from the night before. It felt familiar and similar to how Skinners in Brookings feels. After some great conversation and a few more beers we went outside and bummed a couple cigarettes from locals to hve a true Italian night out. At about 3am we finally made it back to the Airbnb. A great day although Brooke couldn't join and we didn't accomplish much.

Highlights/Notables:

•All the time together has really made us grow closer in weird ways.... there's no longer such thing as TMI

• Yesterday I forgot to mention that at Mary Major a woman was praying with a hand on the feet of a statue of Mary. She looked sooo at peace and so happy. It was a beautiful sight. It was also a great reminder that out of all the beauty in this city, the human is the most beautiful of all. There is grace in our humanity.
